I am a Certified Professional Midwife offering home birth and birth center birth services and midwifery care to local families in Roanoke, VA and surrounding areas (Christiansburg, Lynchburg,  Rocky Mount, Southwest Virginia, etc.).  

  • Midwifery Certification, NARM (North American Registry of Midwives)

  • Midwifery Bridge Certificate (additional Emergency Skills Training)

  • Certified Professional Birth Doula, ALACE (currently known as To Labor)

  • Licensed by Virginia Board of Medicine

  • Member of VMA (Virginia Midwives Alliance), VBCA (Virginia Birth Center Alliance)

I began working towards my midwifery certification in 2008 though I began attending births (home and hospital) and teaching childbirth classes in February of 2006.  Typically, I attend 2-4 births a month and teach one childbirth class series a quarter.  My midwifery certification is through NARM, which is the only organization that specializes in training out-of-hospital midwives.

I am experienced in supporting first time moms, subsequent moms, VBAC's (vaginal birth after cesareans), multiple births, and moms whose partners are unable to be present during the delivery.

Personally, I am a wife and mother of eleven children. I have given birth six times in the hospital and five times at home with assistance of local midwives, including a water birth.

I am a firm supporter of breastfeeding and have nursed each one of my children.

I understand that childbirth is an extremely intimate part of a mother's life.
